As Maurizio Sarri continues to drill ‘Sarriball’ into the heads of his new players, its still rumoured that there will be more players to come.
One of those players could be Christian Pulisic. The 19 year old American superstar at Dortmund has really made a name for himself over the past couple of years and today has been linked with moves to either Chelsea or Liverpool.
With there still being some doubt over the future of Eden Hazard, this looks like Pulisic could be a possible replacement if Hazard were to leave Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks.
But how do the players and Chelsea’s other wingers compare?
Its not just Hazard who has been linked with a move away from the Bridge, as Willian has been too. However, when looking comparing the output of the group of wingers that could be Chelsea players this season, its clear who is superior.
When looking at the possible arrival of Pulisic, its clear that this would be a move for the future as much as it would be for the present. At just 19 years old no one can expect a finished product, not even if you’re looking at Kylian Mbappé.
However, one sign from the image above that could give Chelsea fans some encouragement with Pulisic, is how he compares to Pedro. If both Hazard and Willian are to depart within the new couple of weeks then its unlikely that Chelsea would have time to get two wingers into the club, meaning that Pedro would be the ‘next man up’ if you will.
Now, with Hazard and Willian obviously the best wingers at the club when looking at their numbers, with them gone, that can change to Pulisic.
However, despite this, his numbers in a league which is considered weaker than the Premier League, isn’t great as he only managed to create 29 chances which lead to five assists. He also scored the same amount of league goals as Pedro.
A much better alternative would be the slightly more seasoned, Leon Bailey at Bayer Leverkusen. The 20 year old has attracted attention from many clubs recently, but if Chelsea do lose either Hazard or Willian, he could be a better replacement.
Similar to Pulisic and Pedro above, Bailey outperformed Pulisic despite playing one less league game. Scoring of double the amount of goals as Pulisic and creating 40% more chances than the American, he would be a much more impactful signing on the Chelsea wings.
It’s also important to note that Bailey actually made more league assists than Hazard too last season (six compared to hazard’s four) so that could help his cause if Chelsea decide to move in for him.
