Christian Pulisic has just shown us all the best way to open a scoring sheet, opening his Premier League goals with a hat-trick in Chelsea’s match against Burnley over the weekend. The match which had ended in 4-2 in favour of Chelsea saw the American winger score three times with Willian’s goal sealing the win.

It is safe to say Pulisic has used the opportunity he was handed very well, impressing a lot of fans. He hasn’t had so much of a good time with Chelsea and his national side in the past weeks, trying to settle into the Chelsea style and also being subbed in the USA’s match against Canada.

His previous performances have left people talking and some even concluded that was why Frank Lampard preferred Hudson-Odoi over him, as American fans were accusing the Chelsea manager of preferring English players over Americans.

Pulisic’s performance against Burnley, however, has shown what a talent he is and his potential. He definitely had an impact in the match and will be playing more games going forward, and mostly from the wing as opposed to playing in midfield like he was doing before.

His first goal had been in the 21st minute while his second came in the 45th minute. He scored his third in the 56th minute, Willian scoring the fourth 2 minutes later. The game had looked like it was going to change in favour of Burnley when they started fighting back late in the game.

Jay Rodriguez scored his side’s first goal in the 86th minute while Dwight McNeil scored the second 3 minutes after but as much as they showed a fighting spirit, the match had ended in 4-2 when for most of the game Chelsea were dominating.

Men that ran the show

Outside of all the goals and good outing Chelsea had in Turf Moor, a couple of players had ran the whole show, setting the game going for Chelsea and making sure the players had a great game over the weekend.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic had complete control the midfield with their superb showings for Chelsea. It was a beautiful sight to see how they had dictated the pace of the game – from the attack going forward to when the game was to slow down. They had understood the simple little passes that made the game move the way they wanted.

Jorginho had a total rating of 6.73, with a possession of 8.6. He had a total of 101 touches, 95 passes, 89 accurate passes, and 94 pass success. He had 2 dribble attempts and 2 dribbles won with 100% dribble success (via WhoScored).

Mateo Kovacic had a total rating of 7.17 with a possession of 8.8. He also had a total of 123 passes and 1 shot. With a total pass of 97, 89 accurate passes, 1 key pass, and a 92 pass success rate, Kovacic truly did dominate the game.

Also, he had 5 dribble attempts, winning 3 with a 60% dribble success rate.

On the defence, he had 4 tackles and 1 interception with 100% tackle success. (WhoScored)

With the way they had coordinated the team’s attack, it was obvious they did their bit and did it well. They had been Chelsea’s powerhouse throughout the match and it showed in how well the team functioned around them.

Conclusion

It was a good game for Chelsea. Both fans and players had a good weekend with the team’s brilliant performance. The win left Chelsea fourth in the Premier League table with 20 points from 10 games. An impressive run that shows Chelsea is going strong and is still in the race for the league title.
