Who is Mason Mount?

Mason Tony Mount, commonly known as Mason Mount, is an English playmaker who plays for Premier League giants Chelsea. Mason was born on 10 January 1999 in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Mount is a versatile footballer and can play in several positions.

The England international eventually joined the Blues in 2005. Mason was promoted to the London club’s senior team. The English attacker joined Vitesse in summer 2017 on a season-long loan.

Mason played 39 games in all tournaments for the Dutch club, scoring 14 goals before returning to the London club. After that, Mason joined Derby County in summer 2018 on a season-long loan. In summer 2019, Mason signed a long-term contract with the Blues.

Mount made his Premier League debut for the London club on 11 August 2019 in a 0–4 away defeat to Man United. Mason started the 2020–21 campaign well, as the attacker featured in all Chelsea games.

In winter 2021, Mason captained the Blues for the first time in a 3–1 victory over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup. The English attacker scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League in Chelsea’s 2–0 victory over Porto in the quarter-final.

On 18 May, Mason was voted as Chelsea’s Player of the Year. On 29 May, the 22-year-old attacker provided the assist for Kai Havertz’s goal, as the Blues won 1–0 with Man City in the UEFA Champions League final at the Estádio do Dragão to win the tournament for the second time in their history, and the English playmaker’s first title with Chelsea.

What is Mason Mount’s international career like?

Mason has represented the Three Lions at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels. The English playmaker was included in the U19 squad for the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Mount provided the assist for Lukas Nmecha to score the winning goal with Portugal in the final. Mason was named Golden Player of the competition. The 22-year-old playmaker was called up to the England squad for the UEFA Nations League games with Croatia and Spain in 2018.

Mason made his debut for the Three Lions against Bulgaria. Mount scored his first goal for England in a 4–0 victory over Kosovo in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying.

The English playmaker was named in the Three Lions squad for UEFA Euro 2020. Mason helped England reach the UEFA Euro 2020 final, but the Three Lions lost against Italy in a penalty shoot-out.
