Who are Aston Villa?
Aston Villa is an English professional football team founded in 1874, the club currently participates in the Premier League.
Aston Villa was formed in 1874 by members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel in Handsworth; it is now part of Birmingham. The four founders of Aston Villa were Frederick Matthews, Walter Price, Jack Hughes and William Scattergood.
The Club were one of the founding members of the English top-tier in 1992 and finished runners-up to Man Utd in the inaugural season. For the rest of the Nineties, however, Aston Villa went through three different managers, and their league positions were inconsistent, although they achieved UEFA Cup qualification and won League Cups.
Aston Villa’s current home stadium is Villa Park; they have previously played at Wellington Road and Aston Park.
The NSWE group currently owns Aston Villa , a company of the Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and Wes Eden.
The Lions have won the domestic league and European honours. Their last English honour was back in 1996 when they claimed the League Cup, and most recently they won the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
What are Aston Villa’s predictions for next season?
Last campaign Aston Villa managed to secure a victory in 16 games drew seven times and faced a loss in 15 out of 38 Premier League matches; they ended the 2020/21 campaign in 11th place.
The most impressive has been the defence of Dean Smith’s side, the Lions goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has kept the third-most clean sheets in the Premier League (15) only Chelsea’s Mendy (16) Man City’s Ederson (19) had more.
Aston Villa’s main goal for the next season will be to end the 2021/22 season in the Europa League zone to have a chance and compete for the second-best European tournament, fighting for the Champions League zone seems far from the reality due to the stiff competition.
