Who are Man United?

Manchester United Football Club, commonly known as Man United, is an English professional football club that competes in the Premier League, the highest division of the English football system.

Man United, nicknamed ”Red Devils”, were established in 1902 and play their home games at Old Trafford with a capacity of 74,140 seats. The Red Devils have won more titles than any other team in English football.

Man United have won 20 League trophies, 12 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and a record 21 FA Community Shields. Ryan Giggs holds the record for most appearances for the Red Devils as he played 963 matches between 1991 and 2014.

Wayne Rooney holds the record for most goals as he scored 253 goals for Man United. Red Devils main rivalries are Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds United and Manchester City, against whom they contest the Manchester derby.

Sir Alex Ferguson was Man United manager between 1986 to 2013. The Scottish tactician is considered one of the greatest managers of all time. Sir Alex Ferguson has won more titles than any other coach in the history of football.

In March 2019, having won 14 of his 19 games in charge, Ole Gunnar Solskjær signed a three-year deal to take over as Red Devils coach permanently. Man United is one of the most widely supported football teams in the world.

The Red Devils became the first in the history of English football to achieve the continental European treble. Man United won the UEFA Champions League final in 2008 against Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out.

The Red Devils had an excellent season as they finished the Premier League in second place and also reached the UEFA Europa League final, where they lost in a penalty shoot-out with Villarreal.

Man United already signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Tom Heaton from Aston Villa this summer. The Red Devils heavily linked with Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane and Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
