Tottenham

Who are Tottenham?

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, simply known as Tottenham or Spurs, is an English professional football club that plays in the Premier League.

Spurs were established in 1882 and play home matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a capacity of 62,850 seats.

Tottenham have won two league trophies, 8 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, and 7 FA Community Shields. Spurs also won European Cup Winners’ Cup and two UEFA Cups.

Tottenham main rivalries are Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United. Steve Perryman holds the appearance record for the London club, having played 854 matches for the Spurs.

Jimmy Greaves holds the goal scoring record as he scored 266 goals for Tottenham. Spurs appointed Mauricio Pochettino as manager, who was in charge between 2014 and 2019.

Under the Argentine coach, Tottenham finished second in the 2016–17 Premier League campaign, their highest league finish since the 1962–63 season.

Spurs also reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, after they came from 2-0 down to victory 3-2 in their semi-final second leg at Ajax. Tottenham lost the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool 0-2.

Mauricio Pochettino was sacked after a terrible start to the 2019–20 campaign in November 2019 and was replaced by José Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician’s tenure, however, lasted just 17 months.

Jose Mourinho was sacked in April 2021 to be replaced by interim manager Ryan Mason for the rest of the 2020-21 campaign. Spurs was one of the five teams that pushed for the founding of the Premier League.

Gareth Bale left Tottenham for a then-world record of £85m in 2013 and went on to score more than 100 goals and win four Champions Leagues with Real Madrid.

What are Tottenham’s predictions for next season?

Tottenham had a poor season as they finished the Premier League in seventh place. Spurs will play in a brand new tournament next campaign after qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of Fabio Paratici as their new managing director following his departure from Serie A giants Juventus. On 30 June 2021, Spurs announced Nuno Espírito Santo as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Tottenham will start their 2021/22 Premier League campaign with a mouth-watering home match with champions Manchester City on August 14.
