Chelsea transfer flop will spend this season at Reading
Championship club Reading have snapped up Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater on a one-year loan deal.
The 31-year-old joined the west London giants from league rivals Leicester City back in 2017 but has only featured in 23 matches for the Premier League club.
He has had loan stints at Burnley, Aston Villa and Turkish outfit Kasimpasa since his last first-team outing for the Blues in the summer of 2018.
He becomes the second Chelsea player to sign for the Royals on loan this summer, following left-back Baba Rahman‘s transfer to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Chelsea are still interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez on a loan deal on deadline day, according to a report from The Athletic.
The situation around the Spaniard went silent over the last few days after it was reported last week that Chelsea were keen on signing him on loan from Atletico Madrid.
It emerged earlier today that the transfer was unlikely to happen and Niguez is now expected to stay at Los Rojiblancos beyond the end of the window.
But it has been stated that Chelsea’s interest in the player is far from over and a transfer is still on the cards in the final hours of the transfer market.
