Chelsea handed a massive blow in their pursuit of Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic as he is looking for a new contract with German outfits.

The Austria international is believed to be on the shortlist of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as a potential alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s striker Erling Braut Haaland, with the West London giants are likely to be priced out of a move for the 21-year-old forward this summer.

Kalajdzic’s current deal with Stuttgart is set to end in under two years. However, the 6ft 7 forward can envisage himself staying with the German outfits for longer as he is open to signing a new deal.

Speaking to Kleine Zeitung, Kalajdzic said: “Of course, I can imagine extending my contract. But that would also have to fit. It’s not just me who decides that; it’s also decided by others.

“Something would have to come along that would just fit, and then we’ll see. If there’s something that really impresses me, where I say I want to do that, then I’ll do it.

“I am relaxed. I don’t really think about it much. I’m just here right now, having fun with my friends and trying to prepare for every single training session.”

Kalajdzic has managed to found back of the net 16 times and assisted six more for Stuttgart in the 2020-21 Bundesliga campaign and scored a memorable goal against Italy during the Euro 2020 knockout stages.

Erling Braut Haaland remains Tomas Tuchel’s no.1 transfer target for the current transfer window, however, Dortmund are believed to be keen on keeping him at Signal Iduna Park for at least one more year as they have slapped 170m price tag on his head.

Another Bundesliga forward Robert Lewandowski also appears to be on the radar of Thomas Tuchel as some sources from Germany claim that the Blues are in advanced talks players entourage over a possible move to Stamford Bridge. The 32-year-old has been in stunning form last season scoring 48-goals for Bayern Munich, however, he is keen on taking a new challenge in his career.
