Leeds United enter the battle to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher during this summer transfer window. U21 England international has popped up on the Peacocks’ radar, with just a loan move likely for the midfielder.

Gallagher is one of the brightest teenagers to have emanated from the Blues academy in recent years. However, Conor is yet to make his big break in Chelsea’s first-team squad, having been sent out in three different clubs on loan in the last couple of campaigns.

Last term, the English midfielder was one of the brightest sparks in an otherwise dire season for West Brom, playing a mark in 32 games for the club in what was his maiden top-flight campaign.

The 21-year-old midfielder has impressed the decision-makers at the London club, but with the midfield are laden with top-class individuals, another loan move is being mooted for him, with the Peacocks keen on signing the footballer.

The Peacocks have already swooped one midfielder away from the Blues this transfer window, with Lewis Bate making the switch to Leeds United this week, according to the report.

And now, Conor has also emerged as a viable target for Leeds United, who are keen on strengthening their central midfield ranks this transfer window.

Kalvin Phillips has been nothing short of extraordinary for the Peacocks, while Stuart Dallas has been top-notch since moving into a midfield. However, there is not a whole lot in term of quality beyond the pair, especially with Mateusz Klich seeing his role being reduced the last term.

As a result, the interest in the Englishman makes a world of sense, with the Peacocks keen on elevating the level of their team to stake a claim for European qualification in the coming campaign.

However, Leeds United are not the only team keen on securing the services of the Blues midfielder this transfer window. Gallagher is also being courted by Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, according to Sun, although the Peacocks are hopeful of snapping him up.

Meanwhile, the Blues are only willing to sanction a loan deal for Conor, as he is highly rated at Chelsea. What now stays to be seen is if Leeds United can land the teenager this transfer window.

During the previous campaign, Conor had an excellent season, spending the first half of the campaign at Charlton before being loaned to Swansea for the second half of the Championship campaign.
