Manchester City have reportedly planning to hijack Chelsea move for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this summer
The Italy international winger was one of the best performers for Roberto Mancini’s side that managed to claim the Euro 2020 trophy beating England in the final.
Chiesa only joined Serie A giants, Juventus in October 2020 on an initial two-year loan deal, with an obligation to secure his services for £34.5m plus add-ons.
However, the winger has been strongly linked with a summer move to Chelsea and Bayern Munich expressing their interest earlier in the window.
Thomas Tuchel’s side was believed to have had an £85m bid turned down by Juve, who are not looking to sell their star player this summer.
Despite this, Premier League giants Man City have joined the race for Italian forward’s services, according to Calciomercato, as Pep Guardiola is believed to be a huge fan of the 23-year-old star.
Chiesa had an impressive season in front of the goal for Juventus last campaign, founding back of the net 15 times and providing 11 assists in 46 games across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly planning to strengthen their centre-forward options as well and they are planning to make a £50m move for Bayern Munich’s centre-forward Robert Lewandowski, having admitted defeat in their pursuit of Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.
The West London giants are believed to have been in contact with Borussia Dortmund over a possible contract for Haaland, however, it seems likely that the Norwegian will stay at BVB for one more season.
Thomas Tuchel’s team are believed to be desperate to secure the services of a new centre-forward this summer, and according to The Sun, the London giants are now lining up a move for Poland international forward, Lewandowski.
The report suggests that the UCL winners are preparing a £50m offer for the Poland international, while like in Frederico Chiesa situation Manchester City have recently joined the race for his signature.
Both Chiesa and Lewandowski would be a huge upgrade for Chelsea, however, the Citizens are the main favourites to sign him.
