Chelsea enter the race to sign Newcastle United starlet Bobby Clark. England U16 international is highly tipped to make a switch to a top team after making quite an impression in the youth level of football.
Clark has already attracted some of the biggest teams in the Premier League, including Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham. However, it is the Merseyside club who have moved ahead of their rivals and are the favourites to secure the services of Bobby.
It appears Liverpool are willing to allow teenagers to make themselves heard in the first-team next campaign, which has played an important factor in convincing the English midfielder to opt for the team this transfer window.
A midfielder by trade, the 16-year-old youngster is currently a part of the Magpies youth setup. But Bobby made his U18 debut with Newcastle United in September 2019, at the age of only 14.
Clark has since featured regularly for the Magpies’ youth sides and the England U16 team. And with more and more youngsters making Premier League breakthroughs in recent years, Bobby is set to take the next step in his career.
The possible transfer from Bobby Clark should serve as a huge blow for Newcastle United, who are in the market for a new midfielder this transfer window. The Magpies have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to Express, but face competition from Leeds United.
The 16-year-old midfielder will be hoping to break that chain by quickly moving up the ranks in the Merseyside club youth setup.
But his other suitors in Chelsea and Man United are not bad options by any means, as both teams have had more success in integrating teenagers into their starting eleven in recent years.
However, it is fair to point out that the German manager is more than capable of nurturing teenagers, and the Reds shifting policy towards older footballers should bode well for youngsters like Bobby Clark in the future.
As for the Merseyside club, the addition of the 16-year-old midfielder should hugely revamp their youth team that has lost out on many promising footballers in recent years.
One of their most gifted footballers in the academy in Ethan Ennis is already tipped to join Man United, according to Liverpooloffside, in this transfer window, while the likes of Yasser Larouci and Rhian Brewster, among many others, have not had much luck making a breakthrough into the senior team.
