Chelsea have been handed a huge blow in their hopes of re-signing Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku as his agent has indicated that Inter have no intention to sell their top goalscorer this summer.

The 28-year-old Serie A forward is on the shortlist of Chelsea head-coach Thomas Tuchel to strengthen the offensive end ahead of the next season.

After Timo Werner failed to establish himself as a reliable goalscoring threat at Stamford Bridge hosts of top-class centre-forward, have linked with a move to Chelsea.

Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland is believed to be the No.1 transfer target for the Blues. However, German giants are confident of keeping him at least one more year at Signal Iduna Park.

With a potential deal for Norway international forward likely to cost in the region of £150 million, the Blues are considering re-signing Romelu Lukaku, who departed from Stamford Bridge in 2014 after making £28m move to Everton.

Earlier this summer, Serie A giants had been desperate to sell players to balance their finances issues, however, they have since managed to sell Achraf Hakimi to PSG for €60m, according to transfermarkt.

And now Lukaku’s agent, Federico Pastorello, has revealed that Inter Milan have no intention to sell their key player ahead of the 2021/22 season.

“It went well, we took stock of various situations,’ Pastorello told FCInterNews when asked about his meeting.

Asked if Inter are ‘calm’ about their situation regarding Lukaku, Pastorello replied: ‘Yes, sure, sure.

‘Romelu is on vacation, and I think he deserves a holiday like he’s taking, there are no problems.’

Speaking just before Belgium’s Euro 2020 season, Belgian forward himself has also made it clear that he will not be departing from Inter Milan and is open to working with the new manager Simone Inzaghi.

‘Yes, I am staying,’ Lukaku told VTM. ‘I feel good at Inter.’

‘I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager [Simone Inzaghi]. Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet… but it was a very positive conversation.’

Meanwhile, recent reports from Britain claimed that Chelsea are open to listening to offers for Timo Werner in order to increase funds for a new top-class forward.
