Chelsea booked their spot in a successive FA Cup final following a 2-0 win over Southampton at Wembley. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring with a sublime goal before Alvaro Morata headed in the Blues’ second. Antonio Conte’s side will now face Manchester United in the final on May 19th, hoping to win their eighth FA Cup. Here’s who impressed in Chelsea’s semi-final win over Southampton.

3. Alvaro Morata

Morata has received quite a bit of criticism in recent weeks, but he would’ve silenced his doubters with a good performance on Sunday. Within moments of replacing Giroud, the Spaniard had added Chelsea’s second with a great header. His connection with Cesar Azpilicueta continues to impress, as his compatriot provided an inch-perfect cross for the second goal. In reality, Morata could’ve had more than one goal. He had an effort cleared off the line, and another saved by Alex McCarthy. But overall, a good performance.

2. Olivier Giroud

Picked ahead of Morata in the starting line-up, Giroud must have given Southampton even more nightmares after his performance in the 3-2 win last week, followed by a magical goal at Wembley on Sunday. After Hazard fed the Frenchman, his mesmerising feet allowed him to beat several defenders, as well as the goalkeeper, then force the ball over the line for the opening goal. His performance could mean that he is now Conte’s first choice striker for the remainder of the season.

1. Eden Hazard

What a performance from Eden Hazard. Full of energy and running from the start of the game, the Belgian was keen to make an impression at Wembley. His great control and pass found Giroud for the game’s first goal. And although he didn’t net himself, his skill and running allowed the Blues to excel in attacking positions. His confidence showed when he crossed the ball into the box with a rabona. Hopefully, he can perform like that next month in the final.
