Opinion

Eden Hazard put in a breath-taking performance yesterday as Chelsea won the FA cup with a narrow 1-0 victory. With a swift run through the United defence by Hazard he was brought down by Phil Jones in the penalty area, he converted the penalty to give the blues the lead, the score line stayed at that. However was this his last match in a Chelsea shirt? Or will Chelsea be able to hold onto the Belgian?

What will it take to keep him?

Eden Hazard has recently spoken openly about his desire for Chelsea to bring in top players to win trophies and match his ambition. He also refused to confirm he will sign a new contract after Chelsea’s FA Cup victory, with his current one due to expire in 2020, he said, “For now I am just happy”. It seems slightly peculiar that he has refused to comment on next season if he plans on staying, however Chelsea fans, this could simply just be his way of getting a better contract, as he knows the Chelsea hierarchy will be watching with open eyes and that they will do anything to keep their star man at the Bridge.

Keeping Willian is a must

Hazard and the Brazilian are very close, however Willian has reportedly had recent disagreements with Antonio Conte, leading the Italian to leave the star man out of his starting 11. Many believed this to just be because of the change of formation in recent fixtures; well this all changed the day of the FA Cup final, where Willian reportedly refused to speak to the media, and just to top it off, made an Instagram post with the entire squad celebrating with the trophy, but there was something unusual about the post, he had covered Antonio Conte with emoji’s which meant he wasn’t visible.

Now, Willian leaving would in my opinion not do Chelsea any favours with the Eden Hazard situation, the Belgian and Willian clearly get along on and off the pitch, and with Hazard currently evaluating his future, this might be the situation to make his final decision, losing two star’s in one. So the question is, can Conte and Willian resolve this feud? We all know very well that Antonio is known for his stubbornness, but can he make an exception, or will one have to take off.

Hazard is Chelsea’s main man

At Chelsea Eden is regarded by most as their best and most influential player, however at Real Madrid or Barcelona this wouldn’t be the case, considering they have the two best players in the world. He has also been at Chelsea for nearly six years, he’s building a legacy at the club. So the question is, is he willing to let all of this go? Or is he happy being at a club where all the fans adore him and where he is regarded as the main man of one of the biggest football clubs in the world? We’ll soon find out the answer to that. But for now Chelsea fans will be on the edge of their seats waiting for news on the situation.
