Here at Feel Chelsea, we asked all of our writers to give their verdict on the season. Today, it’s Billy Munday on the hotseat, telling us what he thought of Chelsea’s 2017-18.

Billy Munday

Feel Chelsea: Hey there, Billy. Ready to go? Alrighty, then. How do you think Chelsea did and how would you rate our season out of 10?

Billy Munday: A pretty poor title defence, as partly expected, with some dire football slightly salvaged by the FA Cup win. I’d say about 6/10.

FC: I would say you’re being generous, but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, who was your Player of the Season?

BM: While N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard have shone for most of the season, I’d have to give it to Cesar Azpilicueta for his consistency.

FC: You can’t go wrong with Dave. Just need to figure out a way to make 10 clones of him. Now, what was your Goal of the Season?

BM: The one where Eden Hazard, Michy Batshuayi and Willian combined with two backheels and a thunderous finish to concoct a sumptuous strike away at Brighton.

FC: Ooh, you’re the second person to pick that goal as the season’s best. It really was special. And speaking of special, who would you call your Signing of the Season, the special one, if you will?

BM: After a shaky start, Antonio Rudiger has come good of late and his MOTM performance in the Cup Final was testament to his impressive displays.

FC: Yeah, maybe we should start calling him our BFG – Bafflingly Fast German. Okay, that was bad. But it can’t be worse than the Worst Player of the season.

BM: Even though he’s improved of late, Tiemoue Bakayoko has had a woeful first season in English football and I can’t see him getting much better.

FC: That’s two votes from two for Bakayoko. Moving on, what was your Favourite Moment of the season?

BM: Alonso’s winner at Spurs and Batshuayi’s in Madrid were special but beating Jose Mourinho in a cup final is a level above in satisfaction.

FC: A man after my own heart. Now the opposite – your Worst Moment of the season?

BM: The moment Antonio Conte pressed ‘send’ on that text to Diego Costa telling him he can leave.

FC: Would you press Send on a similar message to Conte? Are you Conte In or Conte Out?

BM: If he wants to stay, then I’m all for it. If his mind is elsewhere, I’d prefer someone that cares in charge of the team.

FC: So you’re saying if his heart’s not in it, he better not try and fake it? Makes sense. And that was our last question. Thank you for the conversation, Billy!

BM: Anytime!
