Sarri to Stay
Chelsea’s search for a new manager this summer have taken a hit, after reports have claimed that Maurizio Sarri is set to snub interest from the Blues and sign a new deal with current club Napoli. Antonio Conte is expected to depart after Saturday’s FA Cup final, and a number of managers have been linked with the hot seat at Stamford Bridge. Italian manager Sarri was suggested to be a frontrunner for the job, but these reports now suggest he is staying with the Serie A club. This could open the door to ex-Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, who could make a return to management in the form of Chelsea.
Hazard Waiting
Eden Hazard says he is waiting to see if Chelsea buy good players this summer, before signing a new deal with the club. The Belgian’s current deal expires in 2020, and there has been many rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid. However, Hazard could be set to stay at Stamford Bridge if the players Chelsea sign are up to his standards.
“I want good players, because I want to win next season the Premier League.”
Chelsea are keen to keep Hazard at the club, but the Belgian is likely to wait until after the World Cup to decide his future.
Pochettino to Chelsea
Another manager that has been linked with the currently occupied managerial position at Chelsea is Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. Since joining Spurs in 2014, the Argentine has led the club to three consecutive top-four finishes, and has gained plaudits for his style of play and use of youngsters. However, Pochettino has three years left on his current deal with the club, and Chelsea know any chance of bringing him to the club is extremely slim. That hasn’t stopped Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich taking an interest in him, however, as he seeks to replace Conte who looks increasingly likely to be leaving Chelsea in the coming weeks.
