Higuain Deal Eyed
Maurizio Sarri could target Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer – should he take over from Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager this summer. Conte is expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, and Napoli manager Sarri is the current favourite to replace him. One player Sarri could target is Argentine Higuain, who he worked with at Napoli. Reports in Italy claim that the Turin club are willing to sell Higuain this summer, and there could be a reunion between the pair in West London. Any deal for Higuain could involve Alvaro Morata.
Juventus Want Morata
If Higuain does leave the Serie A champions for the Blues, any deal could potentially involve Morata. The Italian side are keen to bring the Spanish striker back to Turin, and Morata fits the bill. He spent two years with the club from 2014 to 2016, before returning to Real Madrid. After a season in the Premier League with Chelsea, he could return to Italy. He has had a mixed first year in England – he made a superb start and scored seven in seven at the start of the season, before only adding a further four in the Premier League.
Icardi on Alert
Chelsea have been put on high alert after Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi claimed he could leave the club this summer. The striker has been linked with a move away from the San Siro and the club are keen to keep him, but might be forced to sell in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules. The Argentine was asked about his future:
“I repeat every year, I will speak to the club.
“If it’s good for the team that I stay, then I’ll stay, otherwise I will leave.
“I always do what is best for the club and the team.
“When the season ends, we’ll talk to the club and see what is best for them.”
It would be a costly fee for Chelsea to bring Icardi to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues could be in the market for a new striker.
